The Central Park Conservancy

New Yorker's and tourists love to get away from daily hassle and relax in the beautiful Central Park, located in the very heart of Manhattan Island. Stretching 51 blocks, this 843 acre, green rectangle surrounded by array of highrise buildings, has served its city well since 1859.

Visitors must stop by The Dairy, built 1870 as a milk bar and serves now as the main Visitor Center of the Central Park. Maps and information boards are posted throughout the Park.
If visitors would like to find another way around, than by foot, the romantic horse- drawn carriage is the perfect alternative.

During Summer, the New York Public Theater performs "Shakespeare in the Park"; the Metropolitan Opera as well as the New York Philharmonic Symphony even offer free performances.
