Grand Central Terminal was built in the heyday of railway transportation by Whitney Warren in 1903 - 1913 for the New York and Harlem Railroad company. Its triumphant facade features a fifty foot pediment with statues of Hercules, Minerva and Mercury surrounding a thirteen foot clock.
Inside, the main concourse is also an amazing sight. It is 470 feet long, 160 feet wide and 150 feet high.
Grand Central Terminal could avoid getting torned down in the name of progress due to preservationists like Jacqueline Kennedy who had it declared a landmark in the mid- 1960's.

Opening Hours: Daily from 5:30am - 1:30am. Shops are open 8:00am to 9:00pm (though some retail schedules and holidays vary).
