At the beginning of the 20th century, the race for the tallest building in the wolrd broke out on the island of Manhattan. The Chrysler Building topped in the 1930 with its 317,7m height and 77 floors the so far highest building in the world, the Eiffel Tower in Paris. For automobile tycoon Walter P. But the Chrysler Building could not keep this title for long: one year later the Empire State Building was erected.

Until today the Chrysler skyscraper is recognized as New York City's greatest display of Art Deco, a decorative style characterized by sharp angular or zigzag surface forms an ornaments. No wonder the Chrysler building has become a real tourist attraction!
