A velvet rope line leads to the Marquee's doors, and that might already be the end for those that the doorman thinks unworthy of entrance: they will be evicted by the security guards. But those who make it in will get to see the two- story space that was designed by the big- name architectural firm of Philip Johnson and Alan Ritchie. It is thoughtfully laid out, centered on a modest dance floor with dark, polished wood on all sides, and ringed by banquettes. A dramatic chandelier changes color with the disco lights. A pyramid- like staircase leads to a soundproof, glassed- in, second- floor lounge overlooking the main room.

The Marquee has bottle service and a high society clientele. A good place for celebrity spotting, since Gisele Bündchen, Karolina Kurkova, Natalia Vodianova & Co. hang out in the back room.
