The New York Post is a tabloid owned by the News Corporation of media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Though the New York Post has been hit by criticism after it came under the leadership of Rupert Murdoch for allegedly prioritizing sensationalism over responsible news reporting, there is no denying that this tabloid is a very profitable publication of the Murdoch empire. And that may explain why the New York Post avoids negative news reporting about China where Rupert Murdoch has business interests in satellite television. One study’s respondents cited the New York Post as being a news source with poor to zero credibility. Many controversies hound this tabloid, such as when it uses images that may offend some audiences or runs headlines that have dubious factual basis.
Columnists
The New York Post has some points in its favor, such as its popular columnists. It has two well-known and well-followed gossip columnists named Cindy Adams and Liz Smith. Gossip fans may have been following the Page Six gossip section of this tabloid as well (though it is often printed on pages 10 or 12 nowadays.) The Page Six gossip section content is now complemented by Page Six: The Magazine that comes free as an insert to New York Post customers. There is a recognized authority in the field of sports named Phil Mushnick who also maintains columns in the New York Post. In fact, the sports page of the New York Post has been recognized as being quite comprehensive in its coverage of US and international sports.
