Every weekday from 7 am to 5 pm, a bright orange truck is parked right in the middle of Astor Place. It's the Mudtruck, a former utility vehicle converted into a mobile coffee shop that can be found each day between Starbucks franchises in Greenwich Village and attracts a crowd of anti- corporate coffee lovers.

In addition to coffee and other specialty drinks, the Mudtruck sells great muffins, tarts, and other morning snacks.

The independent coffe truck is appreciated by those commuters who rather get their coffee from a neighborhood business than a big chain. A regular- size cup costs at the coffee truck.

The Mudtruck opened for business in 2001 and has since expanded. to a further Mudtruck, a MudSpot restaurant, and the option to hire the Mudtruck for... well, caffeine catering.
